Mississippi Legislative Prayer Caucus

Mississippi Launches First State Prayer Caucus

In April of 2010, the Mississippi Legislature passed a resolution to start the first prayer caucus in the Magnolia State. Watch the video of the launch below:

State Prayer Caucuses are vital to the mission of the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, Inc. Much of the legislation impacting freedom of religion begins at the state and local level.

Their work is the beginning of a national effort to launch prayer caucuses in all 50 states. State Prayer Caucuses are vital to the mission of the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, Inc. Much of the legislation impacting freedom of religion begins at the state and local level.

Thus, the CPCF actively seeks to establish and support a prayer caucus in all 50 states. State Prayer Caucus legislators facilitate organized calls to prayer, partnerships with churches and para-church organizations, and ultimately reinstitute faith in the lifeblood of America.

Lt. Governor Phil Bryant and Speaker of the House Billy McCoy, along with the Caucus members issued a Mississippi Call to Prayer expressing:

We humbly ask that every willing person of the State of Mississippi join us as we pray – 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people who are called by my Name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." It is our sincere belief that God will hear the prayers of His people. May God continue to bless you and may He continue to bless and sustain the State of Mississippi and the United States of America.

Critics of our movement have already taken notice. The Mississippi Atheists have already announced potential legal action. Please pray for the bold leaders in Mississippi and share the news of this new group with friends or relatives in the state.
