Why a State Prayer Caucus?
Much of the legislation affecting freedom of religion begins in individual states. Thus the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, Inc. is helping to establish and support a prayer caucus in all 50 states. The success of the Congressional Prayer Caucus has motivated national leaders and legislators to replicate the archetype at the state level. As you know, each state has liberty to establish laws to protect access to the marketplace of ideas. With the establishment of a state prayer caucus, when issues affecting your religious freedom arise, legislators can move quickly and effectively to protect your right to publicly pray and express faith in God.
What is a State Prayer Caucus?
State prayer caucuses are formally recognized organizations within the state legislature that allows for quick and unified responses to proposed legislation and consistently unified prayer. Forming a state caucus facilitates clear and active communication on local, state and national issues. Currently Mississippi is leading the country in forming the first state prayer caucus with several states close behind. The State Prayer Caucus Network is designed to stand with State Legislative Prayer Caucus members as they support legislation that protects individual freedom of religion. Answer the Call

In 2005, dozens of Members of Congress stood on the steps of our nation's Capitol and gave an historic call of prayer to America. They initiated an official "Call to Prayer" as a proclamation to all people of faith as to the need to follow the instruction of 2 Chronicles 7:14; to humble ourselves, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways that He may heal our land.
