A Day of Prayer Over Students Across Kentucky

September 27, 2017

In recognition of the negative pressures that challenge the character of our Kentucky students, Governor Bevin has issued this proclamation to encourage all citizens to join him in observing a Day of Prayer.  The proclamation recognizes our students as the greatest resource for Kentucky’s future leadership and encourages parents and community leaders to do everything within their power to protect and develop these students.  All citizens, including the faith community of Kentucky, are invited to pray for “our schools, teachers and administrators for God’s wisdom and knowledge as they impart lessons and education to the students of our state”.

This proclamation serves as a reminder of the precious heritage we have in our children and necessity for invoking God’s protection as well as imparting positive spiritual values through the education process.  It also serves as a reminder of two significant bills signed into law this past year that are intended to assist in this goal.  SB17 provides protection for free religious expression in our schools and HB128 establishes the groundwork for implementing Biblical literacy as an elective social studies course.  Now, the responsibility is ours.  Pray for students.  Pray for teachers, staff and administrators.  Pray for how God might engage you in the spiritual lives of all our students.
