First Liberty Fighting The Memorial Cross Decision

“The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit declared unconstitutional the historic cross-shaped Bladensburg World War I Veterans Memorial, which has stood since 1925 in honor of 49 Bladensburg-area men who gave their lives during WWI. First Liberty Institute intervened in the case on behalf of The American Legion whose seal is prominently displayed at the memorial’s center. First Liberty, working with the law firm of Jones Day, is evaluating all options available to The American Legion, including an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.”  Read more here.

NM: Air Force Colonel Suspended For Views, Needs Conscience Protection

“U.S. Air Force officials have suspended a decorated officer and revoked his recommendation for promotion to brigadier general because he would not sign an unofficial document affirming a retiring subordinate’s same-sex marriage. Col. Leland B.H. Bohannon, Air Force Inspection Agency commander at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, N.M., signed all the requisite documents for a senior noncommissioned service member’s May retirement ceremony except for one: a letter of ‘spousal appreciation’ for the gay serviceman’s partner.”

From FFRF site: “It was brought to FFRF’s attention that the courts had regularly been sentencing nonviolent offenders to a program called Christian Alcoholics & Addicts in Recovery (“CAAIR”) for a one-year term in place of traditional drug rehabilitation programs or prison time.”
