“The First Amendment right of free speech and right to practice any faith, or no faith, are foundational American values that must extend to everyone…” – Member of the Congressional Prayer Caucus
Religious Liberty Legislation: Continue praying consistently and fervently for the successful passage of legislation that effectively protects our Judeo-Christian heritage and First Amendment Rights. Also, pray that bills and resolutions that undermine our Rights will be unsuccessful.

The CPCF Legal Team prepared a brief, joined also by a military chaplain’s organization and a veterans’ organization, urging the Supreme Court to reverse the decision of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals that Bladensburg, Maryland, must remove a World War I memorial in the shape of a cross that has stood for almost a century recognizing the county’s war dead because it was a symbol affiliated with Christianity. The Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case on February 27. Pray now for a favorable decision that upholds the constitutionality of this and other memorial crosses. Our legal team’s brief is available here.
CPCF Legal Team: Thank you for praying with us that the Supreme Court would grant the cert petition of Coach Kennedy, who was fired for bending the knee and praying by himself on the field after a football game. The Supreme Court on January 22 denied the petition, but Justice Alito, for himself and Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh, wrote a statement that the reason they voted to deny review was that it was not clear that that was the only reason the coach had been fired. Justice Alito then went out of his way, however, to say that, if it were, the case would likely be suitable for review and criticized several comments of the Ninth Circuit decision that could be viewed as antagonistic to religion and prayer.
WI: CPCF Stands For Ministers’ Housing Allowance
CPCF Legal Team: The appeal of the Wisconsin district court’s decision that the IRC’s exclusion of the value of a ministers’ housing allowance from gross income violates the Establishment Clause is fully briefed (including an amicus in support of the allowance by CPCF) and has now been argued. While we expect the Seventh Circuit to reverse, if it affirms, the government almost certainly will file for cert, and the Court will most likely accept it for review.
The CPCF helps build and support a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 federal and state elected leaders who are standing for faith and impacting the culture. Please join us in praying daily for them, their families, and staff.
Each week Congress is in session, members of Congressional Prayer Caucus (CPC) meet before votes to pray in Room 219 of the U.S. Capitol. Please pray for the CPC to continue to grow and be increasingly effective for generations to come.
